An Exercise in Style

I made this in 2007 (I think). I was inspired by the cover of Richard Hawley's album, Cole's Corner. In terms of story I was thinking of a meeting that never happens, rejection basically. I wanted a story I could shot with friends in couple of hours  so I set up a basic boy meets girl situation. What I was really trying to do  however was weave together different locations across Melbourne and create my own cohesive suburb of Melbourne. The Sun Theatre in Yarraville, my friends bathroom in Carlton, A street in Ascot Vale and the Old Style telephone box in South Melbourne. All the suburbs are Old Melbourne and share a similar architecture and style, I thought they would blend naturally together.

It is interesting to note that telephone box is no longer part of the South Melbourne Area.

Enjoy.

  1. Well done mate.

I could imagine the whole thing extending beyond its natural limits as he tries to keep the flowers alive!! Final shot ... night time phone booth... he leaves. The empty phone booth. He is a lonely figure in a crowd. The phone rings. The woman with the red fingernails switches off her mobile!

Modern woman ... old world man ... it was never meant to happen.

    some immediate thoughts from Nubar.
